Dr. Neelam Mohan is ranked among the pioneer doctors of pediatric gastroenterology, Hepatology & liver transplantation in India. At present, she is working at Medanta as Director – Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Institute of Digestive and Hepatobiliary Sciences. Dr. Mohan started her medical study by doing M.B.B.S from Osmania Medical College, Osmania University Hyderabad in the year 1989. Later on in 1995, she completed D.N.B (Diplomat of National Board of Paediatrics) from National Board Examinations New Delhi. Her next step in her education was Fellowship in Gastroenterology & Hepatology from the most prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, followed by the Fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition from Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Birmingham UK in 1997 – 1998. She is well known for pioneering numerous programs related to her field. She was first to start the busiest pediatric liver transplant in India which is at present world’s second largest centre. The centre is associated with carrying out world’s first alive related liver transplant in an infant with factor VII deficiency in 2010 & globe’s youngest domino liver transplant in 2009, first Swap Transplantation (2009 and many more. Dr. Neelam Mohan is also recognized for initiating curative Endoscopy of newly born babies and young children, for creating India’s first unit of pediatric gastroenterology, Hepatology and liver transplantation at Medanta. Her journey of fame and reputation does not end here; she is also appreciated for her love for writing and research. Dr. Neelam Mohan is ranked as the nation’s most quoted female Pediatrics in electronic & press media. She is also known for establishing India’s primary annual fellowships in pediatric gastroenterology, Hepatology and liver transplantation, certified by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (2008) and Gastroenterology Chapter of IAP (2012).
