Dr. Omar is a member of various prestigious organizations, including the Cardiological Society of India (Delhi Chapter), Association of Physicians of India (API), Indian Medical Association (IMA), Academy of Medical Specialists, and the Heart Failure Society of ESC. He has the credit of introducing the Trans Esophageal Echocardiography (TEE) in India in the year 1990, as well as using 3D Echo & online 3D TEE. Dr.Omar has chaired many national & international conferences and he has been an active participant in Community Outreach Programs. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Indian Heart Journal & the Journal of the Indian Academy of Echocardiography and he has more than 80 publications to his credit in various national & international journals. The organizer of the first & second National Heart Valve Summit held in January 2011 & 2012, Dr. Omar has been bestowed with many awards, including the Award for Distinguished Clinical Services for EHIRC by the President of India Dr. Abdul Kalam during ISMICS, the Swajatiya Bhushan Award presented by the Omar Vaishya Mahasabha in Bhubaneswar in the year 2006, Award for Social Medical Service from the Gopi Krishan Dharmada Trust in Kanpur in 2003, and has also received recognition in the Asia-Pacific & Who is Who Book Index.
